Christmas Sweaters

By Natalie Ragusin

During the holidays, families get together to celebrate the chilly weather and festivities. For Christmas gatherings and parties, red and green are usually essential.  However, Christmas sweaters with funky patters and prints that reflect out Christmas culture have become a new trend this season. Reindeer, snowmen, Santa, jingle bells, wreaths and trees are some of the most popular items that are embroidered in Christmas sweaters. This trend has become more prevalent throughout the years and seems to be a big hit!

Christmas sweaters are a great idea for a holiday-themed party. Instead of wearing a dress and heels, opt for a comfortable Christmas sweater, a pair of leggings or jeans, and boots. A holiday party with friends, watching Christmas movies by the fire, playing Secret Santa or baking Christmas treats are perfect excuses to sport this ensemble. It’s also a smart option for people who don’t usually like to dress up. Christmas sweaters are a comfortable alternative that allow people to look both fashionable and festive at the same time.

If you want to get creative, you could host a Christmas sweater contest at your next party! For the crafty college student, a Christmas sweater is a great new project. Decorating and crafting your own patterns and prints can be a fun holiday activity. You and your friends can make a night out of it. Materials can easily be found at any craft store. To make a design, you need felt fabric to cut out shapes, puffy balls, rhinestones, sequins, glitter, little bells, etc. Get creative: the possibilities are truly endless. Next thing you know, the room will be colorfully filled with reds, greens, gold, silver and navy to bring in the Christmas season. Everyone at the party can vote for who they think has the best sweater and that person can get a prize.
